Bandwidth overage

The rate charged for traffic beyond what your plan includes. It is a separate number from the headline per-gigabyte price and is usually higher.

Why it costs you money

This is where a plan that looked cheapest stops being cheapest. A provider with a low included rate and a steep overage can cost more than one priced higher across the board, and the overage rate is the figure most often missing from a comparison table.
