What we collect
We don't run ads, sell data, or set marketing cookies. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read.
That is not quite the same as anonymous, and this page used to say it was. Google Analytics sets a first-party cookie holding a randomly generated number for your browser, so that four page views in one sitting count as one reader rather than four. The number is not tied to your name, your email, or anything you have ever told us. Google states that Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
In the EEA and the UK we ask before any of that runs, and nothing is set until you answer. You can change the answer whenever you like: .
Blocking it costs you nothing here. Any content blocker that stops googletagmanager.com, or Google's own opt-out add-on, turns it off, and every page on this site works exactly the same way afterwards.
If you subscribe to price moves
If you give us your email on the changes page, we use it to send you price-move emails and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address.
What a referral tag does
Outbound links to providers can carry a referral tag. The tag tells the provider you came from here; it doesn't tell us who you are.
