# Proxy Compare An auditable price and policy database covering four products: 35 proxy sellers, 7 scraping APIs, 10 captcha solving services and 7 anti-detect browser providers. Prices carry the date we read them from the provider's own page. ## What this site is for - Compare what a gigabyte of proxy bandwidth actually costs across providers - Check sign-up, payment and billing rules before buying - See where a provider's IP addresses come from, and where it will not say - Track price changes over time, with the date of each observation - Compare what clearing one captcha costs, per 1,000 solves and per challenge type, across every solving service that publishes a rate ## Browser comparison tools (WebMCP) - [Browser agent access](https://www.proxy-compare.com/about/#browser-agent-access): instructions and scope. - [Generated browser tool catalog](https://www.proxy-compare.com/webmcp.json): current schemas, examples, coverage and evidence rules. Descriptive JSON, not a remote MCP endpoint or standardized manifest. - [Full provider index](https://www.proxy-compare.com/provider-index.json): stable provider IDs across all three recorded product categories, including listed records and missing prices. - [Find provider IDs](https://www.proxy-compare.com/vendors/): find_providers searches names without punctuation, filters productType and prices (any, recorded, missing), and sorts by name or recorded_prices with direction, offset and limit. - [Read a published guide](https://www.proxy-compare.com/blog/): read_site_guide accepts a published blog or glossary path returned by search_site. Omit section for an outline; then supply its section ID and offset/limit for bounded visible text, code and links. Published guide prices retain their dated context. Commands are never executed. Every page registers these 16 tools through document.modelContext in supported browsers after it loads. A valid call opens the relevant visible controls, applies the inputs, and returns its results after the visible page updates. This is browser tool discovery, not a remote MCP endpoint or automatic discovery by search engines. Ordinary HTML and manual comparison controls remain available. - [Proxy provider list](https://www.proxy-compare.com/): list_proxy_providers filters query, proxyType, noId, crypto, unlimited, protocol, auth, rotation, minStickyMinutes, maxPerGb and volumeGb (20, 100 or 500). Sort by pergb, entry, name or type; includeStale reveals older records after current ones. - [Scraping API providers](https://www.proxy-compare.com/scraping-apis/): list_scraping_apis filters query, billingUnit, jsRendering, successOnly, minEntryConcurrency and maxMonthlyUsd. Sort by name, entry or entry-tier concurrency. Unknown facts stay distinct from a stated no. - [Captcha rate cards](https://www.proxy-compare.com/captcha-solvers/): list_captcha_rates filters query, challenge, variant, solverType and maxPer1k (upper end of a range). Sort by price, name or challenge. Preserves multiple vendor variants. - [Browser plans](https://www.proxy-compare.com/anti-detect-browsers/): list_browser_plans filters recorded profile/storage, total-user, API, platform, library, protocol, currency, billing period and runtime requirements. Currency and period groups stay separate. Unknown facts cannot satisfy a requirement. Source clauses are deduplicated without losing dates or scope. List tools accept direction (asc or desc), offset (default 0) and limit (default 5, or 3 for browser plans, maximum 10). Responses give totalResults and nextOffset. Provider-list responses also give outcome and resetOffset. A nonempty result set beyond its last row returns out_of_range with resetOffset 0; no_matches means no rows satisfy the filters. Repeat the same filters to continue. The visible list shows all matches. Omitted filters reset to schema defaults; no query follows an affiliate URL. - [Proxy cost calculator](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/cost-calculator/): compare_proxy_costs takes gb (1 to 10000), proxyType (residential, isp, datacenter, mobile; default residential), noId (default false), and payment (any, crypto, card, paypal; default any). - [Scraping API cost calculator](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/scraping-api-cost/): compare_scraping_api_costs takes pages (integer, 1 to 10000000), requestMode (standard, javascript, premium, premium_javascript; default standard), minConcurrency (0 to 100000; default 0 means no requirement), and includeCreditPacks (default false). Missing request prices or concurrency stay unpriced. Quoted top-ups assume they are enabled and the account spending limit permits the purchase. - [Captcha cost calculator](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/captcha-solver-cost/): compare_captcha_costs takes challenge (see the tool schema for priced challenges) and solves (integer, 1 to 5000000). Lists and calculators accept providerSlugs and excludeSlugs (up to ten each). Calculator responses default to three rows and accept offset/limit. Calculators also accept maxMonthlyUsd and up to three scenarioVolumes in their existing unit, returning bounded volume comparisons and a conservative budget allowance. Annual prices, unquoted overage and incompatible units stay excluded. - [Provider details](https://www.proxy-compare.com/vendors/): get_provider_details takes slug, section (summary, plans, policies, connection, sources), optional proxyType/challenge, offset and limit. Read source evidence and gaps, including records not yet reviewed. - [Compare provider records](https://www.proxy-compare.com/compare/): compare_provider_details takes two or three providerSlugs in one product category, plus proxyType/challenge. Preserves different units and terms; no invented overall winner. - [Bandwidth estimate](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/bandwidth-estimator/): estimate_proxy_bandwidth takes pages and measured bytesPerPage or an explicit dated preset, mode and attemptsPerPage. Decimal GB, with exact cost-calculator handoff inside its supported range. - [Site search](https://www.proxy-compare.com/): search_site takes query, kind, offset and limit; opens the current page's palette. Searches titles, descriptions, entities and aliases; all meaningful query words must match. Glossary entries use kind term. - [Recorded changes](https://www.proxy-compare.com/changes/): list_recorded_changes filters providerSlugs, since and changeType with offset/limit. Finite observations, not complete price history or monitoring. - [Local proxy formatter](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/scraping-proxy-format/): convert_current_proxy_input accepts format/scheme only for text already entered on the page. Returns counts and redacted diagnostics, never credentials or endpoints. - [Proxy stack selector](https://www.proxy-compare.com/tools/stack-selector/): select_proxy_stack explicitly enables external proxy traffic, API pages, browser subscriptions and billed CAPTCHA solves. Supply each workload and browser requirements separately. Returns selected component costs and zero to three alternatives, their source dates and conditions, and documented browser/proxy scope separately from shared protocol statements. Monthly totals require priced components, compatible monthly bases and one currency; pay-as-you-go purchases and 30-day renewals remain separate. Including an API does not automatically add other purchases. See the schema for defaults and exact selection fields. Responses include a catalog snapshotId and viewUrl. Saved fragment links restore inputs with the current catalog; they do not archive prices. Visible JSON downloads retain evidence and disclosure. No tool automatically copies, downloads, purchases or subscribes an email. Tools update the visible comparison and return structured prices or workload estimates, source dates where held, stated assumptions, and visit URLs with affiliate disclosure. They calculate from the page's saved data without live scraping, model inference, account creation, or purchase actions. Returning a visit URL does not follow it. Scraping API monthly prices carry tier-level sources and original read dates. Annual commitments and unpriced overage are excluded from the calculator. Provider fact dates remain separate. ## How to read our numbers - Prices are read from each provider's own public pricing page, never copied from another comparison site. - Every number is rendered with a verification date. A figure without one is a bug, not a fact. - Where a pricing model cannot honestly be normalised to a cost per gigabyte, we render an em dash and the reason. We do not estimate. - Pool sizes are the vendor's own claim, labelled that way on every page. They are not verifiable from outside the provider. - We publish no reviews and no ratings, so no page carries review markup. - Captcha solve rates are quoted per 1,000 solves and PER CHALLENGE TYPE, because that is how every service prices them. There is no single price for a service, and a headline rate is usually its cheapest type. Where a service states a range we carry both ends and never an average. - We publish what a service says it pays the person solving, where it publishes one, beside what it charges a buyer. We compute no ratio between them: the wage is usually quoted without a challenge type and the buyer rate always names one. - 21 of the 35 proxy sellers publish nothing about where their addresses come from. We record that silence as a finding rather than leaving the field blank. The 7 scraping APIs are not counted: they resell requests rather than a residential pool, so the question does not apply. ## Disclosure We earn affiliate commission from some providers. It is the first thing bot detection checks about you. - [Backconnect](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/backconnect/): One gateway address that fans out to the whole pool behind it, so your code never handles an address list. - [Ban rate](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/ban-rate/): The share of requests a target site refuses. The number that decides real cost, and the one nobody publishes. - [Bandwidth overage](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/bandwidth-overage/): What a provider charges once you pass the gigabytes your plan includes. Often several times the headline rate. - [CAPTCHA rate](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/captcha-rate/): How often a target serves a challenge instead of the page. A softer signal than a ban and it costs the same bytes. - [Captcha solving service](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/captcha-solving-service/): A third party that clears a challenge for you and returns the token, billed per 1,000 solves rather than per gigabyte. - [Captcha worker pay](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/captcha-worker-pay/): What a solving service pays the person clearing a challenge, published on its own recruitment pages and rarely beside its prices. - [Concurrency limit](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/concurrency-limit/): The cap on how many requests you can have in flight at once. Often the real constraint on a scraping job, not price. - [Credit (scraping API)](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/scraping-api-credit/): Scraping APIs bill in credits, and one credit buys different amounts of work depending on the request. What each provider charges, with sources. - [Datacenter proxy](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/datacenter-proxy/): An address belonging to a server in a datacenter. Far cheaper than residential, and the first thing a careful site blocks. - [Exit node](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/exit-node/): The address a target website actually sees. Everything before it in the chain is invisible to the site you are fetching. - [Geo-targeting](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/geo-targeting/): Choosing which country, city or carrier your requests appear to come from. Granularity varies enormously by provider. - [IP reputation](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/ip-reputation/): How a target site scores an address before serving it, based on what that address has done elsewhere. - [IP whitelisting](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/ip-whitelisting/): Authenticating by registering your own server's address with the provider, instead of sending a username and password. - [ISP proxy](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/isp-proxy/): A hosted address registered to a consumer internet provider. Residential-looking identity at datacenter speed, and it stays yours. - [JavaScript rendering](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/javascript-rendering/): Running a page's own scripts in a browser before returning it. Scraping APIs charge more for it, sometimes five times a plain fetch. - [KYC](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/kyc/): The identity checks a provider runs before selling to you. Ranges from an email address to a company registration. - [Minimum commitment](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/minimum-commitment/): The smallest spend or term a provider will sell, which decides whether an advertised rate is reachable by you at all. - [Mobile proxy](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/mobile-proxy/): An address on a phone carrier's network, shared by thousands of real subscribers. The hardest to block and the most expensive. - [Pay as you go](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/pay-as-you-go/): Buying bandwidth in top-ups instead of a monthly plan. Cheaper for bursty work, dearer per gigabyte. - [Per-GB pricing](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/per-gb-pricing/): Billing by the gigabyte you move, the dominant model for residential proxies and the one most comparisons assume. - [Per-IP pricing](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/per-ip-pricing/): Billing per address rented per month, with traffic uncounted. It cannot be honestly converted to a per-GB rate. - [Ports vs IPs](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/ports-vs-ips/): A numbered endpoint you connect to. On some providers a port is the billing unit, and it is not the same as an address. - [Prepaid traffic](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/prepaid-traffic/): Buying a block of gigabytes up front and drawing it down, instead of committing to a recurring monthly allowance. - [Proxy pool](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/proxy-pool/): The set of addresses a provider can route you through. The advertised size is a vendor claim nobody outside can verify. - [Residential proxy](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/residential-proxy/): An IP address belonging to a real home internet connection, rented by the gigabyte. The hardest type to block and the most expensive. - [Rotating proxy](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/rotating-proxy/): A connection that hands you a different address on each request, or on a timer. The default for scraping at volume. - [Session duration](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/session-duration/): How long a provider will keep giving you the same address before it rotates, measured in minutes or requests. - [SOCKS5](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/socks5/): A proxy protocol that forwards any TCP traffic rather than only HTTP, and the one some providers charge extra for. - [Solve rate](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/solve-rate/): The price for clearing 1,000 challenges of one type. The unit every captcha solving service quotes, and it differs per type. - [Sticky session](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/sticky-session/): Holding the same proxy address for a set period so a login or checkout survives more than one request. - [Sub-user](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/sub-user/): A separate set of credentials under one account, so you can split traffic by project, client or machine. - [Subnet diversity](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/subnet-diversity/): How spread out a pool's addresses are across networks. A large pool inside a few subnets behaves like a small one. - [Success rate](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/success-rate/): The share of requests that get through. The number that decides everything, and the one no comparison table can give you. - [Success-only billing](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/success-only-billing/): Compare successful-request billing policies, including chargeable errors, early cancellations and failed-request protection. - [Thread](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/thread/): One simultaneous connection. On unlimited-bandwidth plans, threads are usually the resource being sold instead of gigabytes. - [Traffic rollover](https://www.proxy-compare.com/learn/traffic-rollover/): Whether gigabytes you paid for but did not use survive into the next billing period. Most providers do not say. ## Post - [How much proxy bandwidth do you actually need?](https://www.proxy-compare.com/blog/how-much-bandwidth-do-i-need/): Multiply requests by average page weight.
